We were incredibly fortunate for our amazing launch this month, and 100% of the credit goes to our awesome fanbase – the love and response that we received from you guys means more to us than you could ever imagine.
Building our website was a pretty awesome experience and definitely the coolest project I've ever worked on. Now that it's up and running, I wanted to provide some insight into the five elements that we were adamant on incorporating into the finished product.
First and foremost we wanted our baby to be simple. This is very important – If I come upon a confusing website, I will tweak out at my computer in frustration, especially if I’m trying to give them my business.
I just recently had a miserable time attempting to register my summer lacrosse team because of a website that made me crack the equivalent of a Rubix Cube before it let me pay them.
This was not going to be us.
As a dude who grew up on a digital diet, I knew that simplicity was a non-negotiable element.
Point being, our website allows any visitor to know exactly what we do in under 5 minutes. Some people would even consider that amount of time to be an extended stay.
It tells a story
A major influence behind the concept of simplicity was derived from Simon Sinek’s "Golden Circle Rule."
People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.
Boom! The "WOW" factor
You really only have that one shot at a first impression and we couldn't afford to miss.
Think of the last time that you found a favorite brand of yours. Odds are that the moment you laid your eyes on them they had already won your approval.
Love at first sight is very real. All great brands have this WOW factor – not only does it differentiate them from the rest of the pack, but you can sense it from first glance.
We laced our website with sleek graphics, silky-smooth flow, and crisp images that create that “Ohhhh this is so sick!” moment.
Humanized feel
Part of the WOW factor is letting people know that yes, there are humans behind this operation, and yes, they are actually real regular (or irregular) dudes.
Putting the face behind the brand on display a must because when it comes down to it, people do business with people.
If someone likes you enough, they will do business with you. Plus, have you seen Defina's smile?
It's breathtaking.
100% Mobile responsive
Last but not least, we needed our website to be mobile responsive.
I hate to break hearts, but if you’re website sucks to look at on mobile, your business is going to suck online.
We are lucky to work with a company like HubSpot – They took care of the mobil aspect for us as a bonus to them hosting our site.
Please the people
It's the most difficult, simple concept to understand and execute in the business world. Keep it real, keep it simple. And most importantly human.
When you boil it down, we are all people and that's who we are here to help.
